Learn how SymTribe works.
Welcome to SymTribe
What is SymTribe?
SymTribe organizes small activity groups around preferences, availability, and location. When matching finds enough compatible people, it creates an event and invites the group.
How it works in three steps:
- Set up your profile - Choose activities, add preferences, fill in availability, and decide where you want to match.
- Get invited - Matching runs on a schedule and creates events when enough compatible people line up.
- RSVP and go - Respond on the event page, then follow the event updates there.
Who is SymTribe for?
SymTribe is for people who want to meet others for recurring activities. It works best when you keep your activities, availability, and match locations current.
Getting Started
Creating Your Account
- Go to the SymTribe homepage and tap "Get Matched".
- Enter your email address and choose a password with at least 8 characters, one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, and one digit.
- Check the box to accept the Terms of Use and Disclaimer.
- Tap "Sign Up".
- Check your email inbox for a verification link and tap it to confirm your account.
- You'll be taken to onboarding.
Completing Your Profile (Onboarding)
After sign-up, onboarding collects the information SymTribe uses for matching.
Step 1 - About You
- Select your country.
- Enter your display name.
- Enter your city by typing and choosing from the suggestions. This sets profile and map context.
- Optionally add your address as a profile detail.
- Optionally add your phone number. It is not shown on your public profile.
Optional step - Photo
- You can upload an avatar before moving on to activities.
- This step is optional.
Step 2 - Choose Your Activities
- Pick one or more activities supported in your market.
- Each selected activity gets its own preference and matching setup.
Step 3 - Preferences and Availability
- For each activity you selected, you'll fill in its preferences first.
- After that, you'll complete a separate availability step for that same activity.
- Available time slots vary by activity. In addition to Early Morning (06:30), Morning (08:00), Late Morning (10:00), Afternoon (14:00), and Evening (17:00), Dog Walk also offers Night (20:00).
Step 4 - Matching Setup
- For each selected activity, choose the approved meeting spots where you want to be matched.
- If a city selector is shown, it only focuses the map and approved-spot list. SymTribe does not automatically discover city-wide match locations by default.
- Then choose your match sources: public events, group events, or both.
- After the last activity, you'll see a completion screen and then land on your Dashboard.
Logging In
- Go to the SymTribe homepage and tap "Log In" (or go directly to the login page).
- Enter your email and password.
- Tap "Log In".

Nearby Events
Nearby Events shows public events near the approved meeting spots you selected for matching. Eligible users can join from the event page.
Groups
Groups support:
- Invitations by email.
- Shareable join links.
- Group feed posts and comments.
- Member lists and roles.
- Group-specific matching setup.
- Group-specific locations and location suggestions.
When group matching is enabled, SymTribe evaluates group matching before public matching.
Private group activity is visible to group members. Authorized platform administrators may inspect private group posts, comments, and photos only for documented safety, support, policy, legal, or incident purposes, and that access is time-limited and logged.
Current group members can report a group or an eligible group post from the group pages. If a group is suspended for safety review, owners and admins receive a high-level notice and can use Help for support or appeal options.
Notifications
The in-app inbox is the main notification surface. Tap the bell icon to:
- View all your notifications or filter to Unread only.
- Open a notification and mark it as read.
- Use "Mark all as read" to clear unread notifications.
Settings > Notifications includes browser push controls and email toggles for event invitations, event reminders, and feedback requests. Important emails, including confirmations, cancellations, and security emails, are still sent.
Suggesting a Meeting Point
You can suggest a meeting point for moderator review.
- Open Suggest a Meeting Point at
/meeting-points/suggest. - Enter the place name and any helpful address or meeting details.
- Enter the latitude and longitude from the map or another source you trust.
- Enter the city where it's located.
- Add a note of 15 to 300 characters.
- Choose which activity type it's best suited for (optional).
- Tap "Submit".
Suggestions stay pending until an admin or regional moderator reviews them. Check My Suggestions at /meeting-points/my-suggestions for the current status.
This is separate from group location suggestions. Group location suggestions are managed within each group's detail page.

Troubleshooting
I didn't receive a verification email
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- Make sure you entered the correct email address during signup.
- Wait a few minutes. Emails can sometimes take a moment to arrive.
- If it still hasn't arrived, try signing up again with the same email.
I can't log in
- Double-check your email and password. Passwords are case-sensitive.
- If you see "Please verify your email", check your inbox for the verification link and tap it before trying again.
- If you forgot your password, tap "Forgot password?" on the login page to reset it.
I'm not seeing any events on my Dashboard
- Check the Match Status block on your dashboard.
- It can show that your profile needs work, match spots are missing, a cooldown is active, an invitation is already active, matching is disabled, or matching is waiting for enough compatible people.
- Use the action shown in that block when one is available.
I can't find the WhatsApp group link
- WhatsApp group links only appear for confirmed events.
- The event also needs an active WhatsApp link.
- You must be accepted on that event.
- WhatsApp coordination is only available for accounts that previously enabled it and have a saved phone number.
- Open the event detail page and look for the WhatsApp option in the event menu.

If enough people accept before the cutoff, the event becomes Confirmed. Those event pages can show calendar links and an active WhatsApp link when you are eligible to use it.

Some confirmed events have an active WhatsApp link for eligible accepted participants. It's used for coordination before the event. Joining it is optional.
Your phone number is optional and is not shown on your public profile.
Yes. During onboarding, or later from My Activities, you can join as many activity types as you like. Each activity has its own preferences and matching setup.
